ISAAC Africa talks about Trauma and Addiction
‘Indeed we are grateful for the resource. Very educative’
‘The training was very constructive and we thank you very much for having organised and for conducting the training.’
These were some of the comments from participants following ISAAC Africa’s online presentation on ‘Trauma and Addiction’ by ISAAC Member Samy Mansour (based in the UK). Samy has over 30 years’ experience in the field of addictions/recovery and Christian therapeutic interventions. He also has a diploma in Trauma Therapy. Participants heard a presentation on understanding trauma, the neuroscience of trauma, the link between trauma and addiction as well as possible approaches for treatment, interlaced with a Biblical view of living in freedom. There were some excellent discussions in the Q&A that followed.
As a global network, it was a delight to see Samy who has African and British links, connect with ISAAC Africa on this important subject. We hope to see more and more of this type of international capacity building for Christian workers in the field as local online networks emerge.
